Slumdog Millionaire GREAT MOVIE however it's not suitable for younger people

Amazing film is inspiring, but too mature for younger children. Slumdog Millionaire is a powerful story about true love, and its struggles. The film is absolutely beautiful, and entertaining. And if you haven't seen it be sure not to miss it. Parents Section: Violence: The violence in the film is not graphic, and is kept at a PG-13 level, although some of the violence involves children which makes it slightly more disturbing. The film starts with the main character being beaten, nearly drowned to death, and electrocuted by police officers. The violence is much milder than it sounds. A scene takes place where a riot against, Muslims is being held. This scene includes; burnings, beatings, and murder. The scene lasts for about 2 minutes, and is quickly edited making it "again" much milder than it sounds. There is also a scene where a man blinds a boy with hot oil, using a spoon to drop it into his eyes. As he pours the hot oil into his eyes, it is blurred. Making it once again, milder than it sounds. Language: There are some cuss words in the film, but not what you would expect from an R rated movie. The words used are "S--t", "Hell", "D-mn", "Cr-p", "P---y", and two non-sexual uses of "F--ing" The words are only said through some parts of the film, and is not used at a constant rate. Sex: A main character, in a female role is sold into sex slavery, though it is only implied. As well other sexual scenes are only implied and not shown. A very young boy's buttocks are seen in a non sexual way. The strongest scene in the film when pertaining about sex would be when two young boys enter a brothel. And see a quick glimpse of a man and a woman kissing, although they are both clothed at this point and no nudity is visible. Drinking/Drugs: Many drinking, and even up to the point where some children are seen drinking hard liquor. Messages and Role Models: There are consequences to the bad things that characters do in the film. As well as messages about doing whatever it may take to make your dreams come true.

Lobster Cave

Lobster Cave

Recently I was speaking with a friend of about certain climbing routes that we could undertake that were interesting and isolated but not too far out of the way... My Mate (dom) found a climb on the crag know as 'Lobster Cave' which is in Wagstaff, NSW opposite Ettalong beach next Killcare.



The climb itself is in a national park in the located in the dense scrub that looks out across ocean that lies between Wagstaff and Ettalong. I am not sure I would call it a cave as such but it is a Huge! open faced overhanging rock with around 29 different climbing routes all varying difficulties.

The reason why it’s such great place to though is because if you get to hot and want to take a break you have a beach right there and if it happens to be raining you’re sheltered from the elements and continue climbing until the rain dies or camp there for the night. It’s located about an hour north of the city so its accessible and easy to get out there for a day trip if you’re limited by time (which most of us are).

Tv Show: How To Get Away With Murder (2014)

This show is only 9 episodes old (at the time of this review), yet the plot is very deep. If you think you know something as true, you better check the clock because the episode probably has another 5-10 minutes left. In regards to the flashbacks in earlier episodes, I have to agree with a fellow reviewer when saying that they can be a little redundant.

I'll admit, this show has a little bit of everything. Some murder, several acts of infidelity, along with some goofy moments to break the tension. Unlike other aspects of most shows, I found this particular series to be an a realistic depiction of life. Some other accurate things I found very refreshing were the diverse personalities between all the characters. -- I think another review said something about "of course they would make all law students act stuck-up" -- that's definitely not the case. These are young adults in their 20's, with varying maturity levels. Like I said, realistic.

Honestly, though, if you're expecting reality in your drama TV show... I'd have to refer you to the documentary section of the library because if you complain to me while this show is on, I will pause it and try my hardest to politely ask you to leave the room. Your pessimistic tendencies and blatant disrespect for an excellent show are not welcome. All in all, this is probably the best show I've had the pleasure of watching in quite some time. Keep up the good work.

AMERICAN SNIPER 2015

When American Sniper first came out I ignored the film thinking that it was the usual war propaganda Hollywood delivers once a year.

After it received a couple of Oscar nominations I got a little curious and decided to go watch it. I am a big of Clint Eastwood and appreciate most of his work as a director, I am aware of his right-wing views and as I sat down in the theatre I was expecting a very patriotic story on the war in the Middle East.

But what I got was 2 hours of pure biased war propaganda. The story is supposed to be about a war hero, but what we get is a ruthless southern who kills "bad guys" because he saw some terrorist attacks against his country on TV. Not once are the his intentions questioned by either the character himself or others. The entire film just follows a one-track minded perspective on a "just" war. There is no morale to the story, there are no grey areas where the viewer is allowed to have an opinion and decide for himself what is right and what is wrong.

Now if this was satire, it would have been brilliant. The story of a redneck cowboy who after seeing some footage on TV about terrorist attacks decides he needs to protect his country by enrolling in the Navy and killing 150 people over 5000 miles away from where he lives, and without the slightest hesitation. But unfortunately it was not.

It is actually quite sad to see how low American cinema has stooped. The fact that people might actually believe this crap (and most Americans do) makes me lose hope for the future of a once great country.

There was a time when Hollywood war movies raised important questions on the righteousness of war (such as Full Metal Jacket, Thin Red Line, Apocalypse Now) where the viewer was given the clear picture that all war, justified or unjustified, is wrong.

Nowadays most war movies are just commercials to get the American public behind the idea that invading a foreign country is a God given right.

The fact that it got nominated for the Academy Award just shows how much a once acclaimed award is quickly becoming a pat on the shoulder to the most politically correct motion picture of the year.

MY THOUGHTS ABOUT GET HARD 2015!!!

I am a huge Kevin Hart fan every since his first mainstream comic stand up (I'm a Grown Little Man). Enjoyed all of his movies especially The Wedding Ringer. Watching the trailer for the first time, I was insanely excited to see Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart working together! Finally I got a Saturday night show tickets to watch it and the movie was rather unique within its story in the beginning. Will Ferrell did what he does best with his over the top comic role of a millionaire, smart but naïve character. Kevin Hart also did what he does best as a broke, vulnerable but funny confident character. Soon you find out that you have seen this before in buddy cop movies. Two very different personalities (status and attitude) get together to accomplish a goal and become best friends. It is a clichéd story which didn't live up to my expectations but they did have humorous scenes which got me laughing and isn't that the whole point? (Loved the transition where Ferrell's house turns from a lavish villa to a prison!) Aside the cliched story and excessive sexual humour, I enjoyed Get Hard and the chemistry between the two lead actors.

Movie Review: Inherent Vice

INHERENT VICE is one trippy, flippy, hippie movie carried by the brilliant Joaquin Phoenix and beautifully brought to life by Paul Thomas Anderson, my favourite living American filmmaker. Best described as a drug fuelled detective story, this film is a cinematic time machine that transports you right back to 1970, when the era of 'free love' was fading into oblivion and the streets were shrouded in a psychedelic haze of marijuana smoke and post-Manson paranoia. I found myself being utterly seduced by its stoned surrealism and bewildered by its behemoth of a plot that seemingly meanders aimlessly from scene to scene, much like our pot-headed protagonist himself. Eventually, you just have to give in to the experience and consider the journey itself more than the destination. All in all, This "groovy product" is what you may call "an acquired taste," but if it sounds like your kind of trip, I guarantee it will get you high on movies again...

Tv Show: Empire (2015)

The main character's backgrounds are rooted in long-standing black stereotypes (drug dealing hustlers from the hood, turned hip hop moguls), which is problematic if the show, boasting an almost all-black cast, is to be viewed as "the black experience."

First and foremost, the show offers relatively complex characters, who deal with various interpersonal relationships/conflicts, proving that black families are just as nuanced and complicated as any other race. Secondly, the show flips the "token black" staple, by including a single white face, singer Elle Dallas, who just so happens to be played by rock legend Courtney Love.

Last but not least, the show tackles homosexuality, both male and female, in the black community. While gay has become a staple as of late in with TV soap, it had yet to be dealt with in the context of black life, and, more specifically, the hip hop community, which is notoriously known for reinforcing homophobic views. Empire not only chooses to diverge from the stereotypes, offering a gay male who is both masculine and intelligent, but also confronts the hardships of rejection and identity crises in the face of homosexuality.

As a lover of music, Empire may not provides the most accurate depiction of the industry, but it does offer a substantial dose of superstar cameos from. As previously stated, Hole front-woman Courtney Love is on the show; Snoop Dogg and Mary J Blige are also set to make cameos, and rap legend Lil' Kim and singing sensation Mariah Carey have also been rumored to join the cast.

All-in-all, the show is far from perfect. If you're looking for fun entertainment, I would definitely recommend. If depth or complexity is what you're going for, this is no "How to Get Away with Murder" or "Scandal." The plot is unrealistic and dumbed down. It's not painstakingly idiotic, but it doesn't require a single brain cell to follow along.
